AI-use disclosure for OpenAI apps
What to tell visitors when your app calls OpenAI.
Name OpenAI
OpenAI is in the ai api category. On sites we scan, it shows up through api.openai.com. Its role is to generate text, images, or embeddings from an OpenAI model.
Data that may be processed: Prompts, files, and other content your app sends to the OpenAI API, plus account identifiers on the API request. The vendor describes the location as: United States (OpenAI). Their public privacy or data-processing terms are at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
Say whether people submit prompts or files to OpenAI, and do not claim the provider has disabled training unless you have checked that setting yourself. Model output is not professional advice.
An OpenAI call from the browser or a client bundle shows up as api.openai.com. The AI-use page should say whether the visitor's prompt, file, or chat is sent, and that you do not control OpenAI's training setting from inside TermsPack. Check that setting in your own OpenAI account.
A disclosure is not a model card
You do not have to publish your prompt. You do have to say which provider receives user content, whether people are asked to submit that content, and that output can be wrong. TermsPack's AI-use page is one of the five documents in the pack.
TermsPack generates templates from what we detect on your site. This is not legal advice and does not create an attorney–client relationship. Have a lawyer review documents for your situation.
